John "Gary" Tilton, lifelong resident of Somerdale,NJ, passed away on February 18, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Son of the late Constance and Warren Tilton Sr. Survived by his beloved wife, Diane Tilton (nee Skourtis) and their two loving daughters, Dawn Tilton-Cheverez (Miguel) of Somerdale, NJ and Dana M. Smith (Christopher) of Magnolia, NJ. Also survived by his two brothers, Warren Tilton Jr. (Joy) of Maryland, Donald Tilton (Angie) of Delaware, Sister Janet Robinson (Sheridan) of Nebraska and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Gary served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. After an honorable discharge, he continued his civil service as an officer on the Somerdale Police Force from 1968 - 1974. He proudly served on the Port Authority Transit Police from 1974 until his retirement as Sergeant in 2001. He was a lifetime member of the Raws-Tait VFW Post #7334 in Somerdale, NJ and a member of the Camden County Retired Police Officers Association. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a service on Monday (February 24th ) with calling hours from 2:30 - 4:15 PM , followed by a service at 4:30 PM at the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home, 125 N. White Horse Pike at South Ave., Lindenwold. Interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
