Obituary of Alice Bakley
Alice Bakley (née Bond), 77 years, of Stratford NJ, passed away on October 6, 2021, predeceased by her husband Robert Bakley. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bond. Dear sister of Dolores Gunn, Barbara & Paul Szmal, the late Charles (Barbara) Bond. Loving Aunt of Paul (Laura) Szmal.
Alice demonstrated what it means to be a humble servant of her parish and greater community. At her parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold NJ, Bakley was head of the Hospitality Ministry and served as a leader during the parish merger as she welcomed new families into the community. She organized the parish giving tree, which serves thousands of families in need every year. She was a lector and a Eucharistic Minister as she brought communion to the sick and homebound and she often functioned in the role of a sacristan as she opened and closed the church. She and her late husband Robert started a gift shop in their parish, which she staffed weekend after weekend. Without ever seeking attention, Bakley has been a shining example of what it means to be deeply involved in Catholic social ministry inside and outside of her church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday October 12th from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish St Luke's Church, 55 Warwick Road, Stratford NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at 135 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ or Sacred Heart Parish at 1739 Ferry Avenue, Camden, NJ 08104 would be appreciated. Arrangements under the direction of the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, Lindenwold, NJ.
