Obituary of Edward Coleman IV

Our beloved Eddie died at only 23, on December 29.  While Eddie‘s death was unexpected, he suffered from an opioid addiction, and he died alone, without the people who loved him most nearby. 

  Eddie was born on February 6, 1995. He grew up a smart, funny, and talented kid in Gloucester City.  Over the years Eddie had made some  amazing friends through skateboarding and music. He loved spending time with them and everyone who met Eddie instantly loved him. 

When Eddie was 16 he moved to Salem County. He always missed his hometown but he made some great friendships in Woodstown.

 In March 2013, Eddie had a life-changing accident. He was hit by a drunk driver and almost lost his life that night. Although Eddie’s recovery amazed us all, he had a hard time accepting it. His life would never be the same and he could never skateboard like he could before. To him, it was devastating. 

Some time around late 2015, Eddie met a girl that was suffering from addiction.  Although in the beginning, he said he was trying to help her overcome, at some point he was introduced to Percocet for his leg pain. From there it spiraled out of control.  Since then it has been a struggle. Eddie went to rehab, but in August 2018 it became apparent how bad his addiction had become, when he went missing for nine days. After being found, he agreed to detox and was in recovery. He was doing well. The day he went missing he was sober, he had plans with friends, and he was very much looking forward to that. The last known loved one to see him, that day, with his mom. With a smile and an “I love you”, he was off and heading to meet his friends in Gloucester City. Somehow in that time, something changed his mind and he went missing again.  After seven days, he was found and our worlds were shattered. 

Like so many others that fall victim to this, Eddie was a person with a huge heart and passion and was very loved. He was not just a junkie. He could play guitar, he could play the drums, he could write you some poetry, he could skateboard with the best of them and was getting into wood-burning.  Eddie loves camping and went on many camping trips with his Nan and Pop-Paul. 

Eddie is survived by his mother, Nicole Przybyszewski  and her husband Kevin, two brothers Jacob and Colin Blaylock, and a little sister Mia.  He is also survived by Chalie Blaylock Jr., his grandparents Paul and Cathy Darrell, Walt and Bernadette Smith, and Bridget and Joe Rossi, Patty and Chalie Baylock Uncles Walter Smith and Michael Rodgers, Aunts Sarah Darrell, Rebecca Smith, Danielle, Tiffany and Jaime Coleman, Gina Rossi, Jennifer Seltzer, Khara Morse, Melanie Eller. 

 Eddie’s legacy will live on through his amazing friend Danielle Russo and her family, who took him in as their own.  His buddies Sam, Brandon, Emerson, Caleb, Vince and his cat Sherman.  Eddie loved our dogs Pintail in Kona.

There were so many people that have been a part of his life as he grew up.  Chalie Claire and his family, Erin Kain and her family, Austin Dobleman and his family, Tyler Murray, Will Tozer, Bob Sherer, Elexis Esworthy, and so many more.
