In the short time we have had the pleasure to visit with Viola, it was always a delight to see the sparkle in her eyes. She was wise and lovely, all in one personality. She is very missed in our hearts. Be peaceful and happy again, Vi!

So very many memories they are too numerous to count. As a child the most dominant memory is that of so many family picnics at Palatine Lake and I just remember what friends my Mom and Aunt Viola were - united perhaps at times "against" somewhat inscrutable in-laws. For me one poignant memory stands out - my last day of school in fifth grade. No sooner had I arrived home that day when Aunt Viola was there to pick me up and take me to Gloucester for the two weeks before camp started. My Mom was in the hospital and Aunt Viola was there when needed. Time marches on and then there were so many Palatine picnics, Christmases, Thanksgivings, Easters and July 4ths. Then there were the many visits made to me in either Long Island or Maine. I will share just one memory because a friend of mine the other day asked if I had ever had soft shell crab. Well the answer is yes and i like it. No so for my Aunt Viola who on my suggestion decided to order a soft shell crab at a docks restaurant in Freeport, NY. her shocked face comes to my mind right this minute when she saw those crab legs hanging out of the bun. he just never imagined that soft shell crab meant the whole crab. her appetite went in the trash with the sandwich! Still to this day it brings a smile to face. May You Rest in Peace Aunt Viola - your life is the shining example of a life well-lived. Love, Phyllis

Aunt Viola -
You will be missed, but my heart is happy picturing the scale of the Pinochle Game taking place in Heaven now that the gang is back together! So much of my child memories revolve around the 4 of you (Aunt Viola & Uncle and Grandmom (Cora) & Grandpop (Chief/Joe)) in cahoots, driving up to ME in the largest American-made car possible; trips to FL; the cruise to nowhere; and I never saw a home with more commemorative teaspoons than yours! Thank you for always being there. Much love to all who knew, loved , and will miss you.
