I just saw this after a mutual asked if I had heard from John. I met John when I was 25 years old - 30 years ago working in Cambridge. We both moved around, and spent some time together while we both were in Colorado Springs. John remained young at heart and our age difference never mattered to me as a friend - I'm the one who had to keep up! He was a smart, complicated man with a stubborn streak of independence. My youngest daughter liked him very much. He was a gracious host to our family whenever we visited. He had a nick name for everyone - mine was "the phantom". He was worth his salt - I will miss him.
