Janet Bold Sholl, 92,passed away on September 20, 2013 at Medford Leas in Medford, NJ. Janet was born June 22, 1921 to Caroline Baxter Bold and John Evans Bold in Schenectady, NY. An only child, Janet graduated from Upper Darby High School and Bucknell University (class of '43) where she met her future husband, Donald Hare Sholl, on her first day of freshman camp. They married on September 23, 1943. As the wife of a Naval Flight Instructor, Janet moved around the country. After the war, she and Don built their dream home on three woodsy acres in the Hunt Tract in Cherry Hill, NJ where she lived for 50 years. Janet happily became a resident of Medford Leas Continuing Care Retirement Community in 2002.
Preceded in death by her husband in 1994, Janet leaves four children, M. Jeanne Sholl, PhD, Donna Sholl Snyder (Robert), Barbara A. Sholl (Kevin McLarnon), and Andrew B. Sholl (Cheryl), six grandchildren, Jeremy Smith (Helen Hwang), Brad Snyder (Christine), Kevin Snyder (Amy d. 2012), Brett McLarnon, Kirby Sholl and Caroline Sholl and four great-grandchildren, Gillian, Bennett, Imogen and Finley.
Janet was active in volunteer activities revolving around her growing children: Girl Scouts Leader, PTA President, family camping, hospital auxiliary and tireless chauffer of children. Her later years included volunteer work for Contact 609 (32 years) for which she received a Humanitarian Awardin 1987, 'Our Growing Assets' Investment Club, the Lydia Circle at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Care and Share, and Sister Jean's Soup Kitchen.She was an active alumna of Bucknell University writing for the class of '43 in 'Bucknell World.' Many happy summers were spent with extended family in Rindge, NH on Lake Monomonac. Janet was an avid knitter and warmed numerous heads with herhand knit hats. Ever competitive, Janet enjoyed tennis, played a sly game of croquet and excelled at Scrabble. She founded and enjoyed the Billiards Club at Medford Leas.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2PM on October 27, 2013 at Medford Leas in the Holly Room. Memorial gifts can be sent to the Medford Leas Reserve Fund, Medford Leas, One Medford Leas Way, Medford, NJ 08055. Funeral under the direction of the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home, Lindenwold.
