Marion Patricia Hodnicki, passed away peacefully on 11/18/2014 surrounded by family members in Plano TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hodnicki Sr. to whom she was married for 57 years. She is survived by her son Edward Hodnicki and wife JoElyn of Plano, TX, grandson Justin Hodnicki of Dallas, and granddaughter Amanda Wise, her husband Randy and great granddaughter Natalie of Belleville, KS. Originally from Bremerhaven Germany, she endured the many struggles of WWII, from bombed out dwellings and bomb shelters to living on the edge day to day. The experience had a profound influence on her life, living each day to the fullest, appreciating what she had and could share with others. She was a war bride and immigrated to the US where she became a naturalized Citizen in 1957. She was extremely proud to be a US citizen; she lived in Camden, Lindenwold NJ and later Plano TX. She often spoke of how she met her husband; he managed to serenade her under her window one night, signing songs about “Blondie” while his friend played a guitar. At first she was not encouraged by his talents or approach, but after relentless pursuit, later dated, fell in love and lived a long and happy life together. She held many jobs and positions in her life, but was most proud of her time as a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Union where she was a member for over 30 years. Her family and friends were the center of her life and she loved to spend as much time with each as possible. She was a wonderful cook and hostess. Loved to host parties where she delighted in entertaining folks as well as talking up a storm, she could talk longer than anyone we knew. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husband in his time of need, never complaining and always there for him. They were a wonderful couple, parents, grandparents and friends. Her absence will leave a void in our lives and for those who knew her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday 12/6/2014. Service will begin at noon at the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home located at 125 N. White Horse Pike Lindenwold NJ 08021. In Lieu of flowers donations made to one of her favorite charities would be appreciated, St. Jude Children Research Hospital or the SPCA.
