Obituary of Arne Bache

Please share a memory of Arne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bache, Arne age 93, of Somerdale, NJ died Wednesday evening November 26th, 2014, bringing his adventurous life to a conclusion. Born in Denmark in 1921, his love for the ocean prompted him to join the Merchant Marines and sail the globe, before finally landing in East Orange, NJ. Following the Nazi Occupation of Denmark in 1940, Arne returned home and became a member of the Danish resistance movement which, among other notable achievements, helped safely transport Jews living in Denmark to nearby Sweden. He was forced to flee Denmark when the Nazis learned he was a member of the underground movement. Once again he sailed the world and met his future wife, Maria Díaz in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Returning with his family to the United States in 1959, he took a job as a waiter at the illustrious Weavers Club in Manhattan, eventually moving to Philadelphia where he opened two businesses inside the Land Title Building on south Broad Street. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will sorely be missed by all. He was the husband of the late Maria Bache. He is survived by his daughters Liliana Bache (Charles), Adriana Bache and Teresa Sirota; grandchildren Stephanie (Doug), Raymond, Christopher and Jennifer (Ben); and great grandchildren Miles, Cole, Avani, Anthony and Tauhid. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Life Choice Hospice, 200 Campbell Drive, Willmingboro, NJ 08046. Funeral under the direction of Danks-Hinski Funeral Home of Lindenwold. Condolences may be offered at www.dankshinskifuneralhome.com.
