Jose Guerra Caringal passed away peacefully on August 23rd, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was 62.Mr. Caringal was born in Ibaan, Batangas in the Philippines on February 23rd, 1950 to Eugenio and Rosela Caringal. He was the fourth child in a family of ten children. He joined the United States Navy in 1975. He served in numerous posts throughout the world. He served on the USS Abraham Lincoln during U.S. Desert Storm. Following his retirement from the United States Navy in 1996, Jose worked in many different jobs before he acquired his final job on the Battleship New Jersey in Camden, NJ in 2001. He assisted in and facilitated many of the repair projects on the ship. He was affectionately known as BM1 on the battleship NJ. Jose enjoyed helping others in his time away from work. He was a devoted Catholic and was very involved in the Church. Every Sunday, you could see Mr. Caringal assisting with the collection and he always volunteered to bring up the offerings with his family. His last project was to replace and repair every kneeler at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Lindenwold, NJ. He is survived by his wife, Lily Farol Caringal; three children, James, Jysel and Jason; and five grandchildren, Kevin, Korrel, Jyana, Jalyssa and Israel. He also survived by his seven sisters and two brothers. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, August 28th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Wednesday morning, August 29th from 11:30AM to 12:45 PM at the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home, 125 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Wed. Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Lawrence Church in Lindenwold. Interment private.
