Went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 7, 2009 age 80 years, of Lindenwold, N.J.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife Florence of 59 years, 6 children, 9 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, devoted sister-in-law Mable Mauger and faithful dog Jack.
John's beloved children are;
Linda Cipriano (Tony) of Pine Hill, NJ, Brenda Hennessy (Michael) of Grapevine, Tx., Flossie Harley (George) of Albion, NJ, Deborah Winslow of Cape May, NJ,
John W. Davenport Jr. of Waterford, NJ, Steven W. Davenport (Stevie) of Lindenwold, N.J.
John was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Church. He served as a Lindenwold Police Officer from 1969 to 1984 and was a life member of FOP Lodge #9. He served as President of the Exempt Firemen's Association and was a life member of Lindenwold Fire Department #1. He was a member of Moose Lodge 548, the Knights of Columbus in Lindenwold, and Square Circle Sportsmen's Club.
John received the Distinguished Service Award from the Marine Corps League and the Legion of Honor Award from The Chapel of Four Chaplains. John's family and community will miss him greatly.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a viewing on Friday between 7 and 9PM and again on Saturday from 9- 9:45PM at the DANKS - HINSKI FUNERAL HOME 125 N. White Horse Pike at South Ave., Lindenwold. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:AM from St. Lawrence RC Church Lindenwold. Internment at the convenience of the family.
