BLACK,
Emma W.
(nee Fennimore). On September 20, 2008, age 89 years, passed away peacefully at Oceana Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Cape May Court House. A long time resident of Clementon, N.J.
Emma is predeceased by her husband Samuel W. Black, her parents, Joseph and Emma (Toperzer) Fennimore and her brother John. Emma is survived by her son, Sam and his wife Veronica, granddaughter, Stephanie and her husband William, grandson, Stephen and his wife Donnamarie. Five great granddaughters, Samantha, Stephanie, Genevieve, Katherine and Mairead, sister-in law's, Lucy Blackman and Lorraine Fennimore, cousin's, Olga DeLoreto, Newell Volk and William Wizst, as well as many nieces and nephews.
My mother was a homemaker until my Dad's death in 1964. At that time she took employment in the library of the old Overbrook High School in Lindenwold. She held that position for ten years before retiring. Retirement allowed Mom to pursue her true passion, writing. She sold her manuscripts to various publications, and wrote a local column "Rambling With Em." She was an avid reader, especially history, and was a valuable source of local history. Mom had a feisty nature and did not mind telling you just what she thought, like it or not. She will be missed by family, friends and most who knew her. My mother would have enjoyed this obit.
Her family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 8:00 pm, in the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, N. White Horse Pike at South Avenue, Lindenwold. NJ. www.dankshinskifuneral home.com
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Emma's name for a Memorial Bench at the Cape May County Park and Zoo, Route 9 South & Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey 08210.
