We knew little that morning that
God was going to call your name.
God saw you getting tired,
He did what he thought best;
He put His arms around you,
And said, "Come and rest."
He opened up His golden gates,
On that heartbreaking day;
And with His arms around you,
You gently slipped away.
In life we loved you dearly;
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone;
A part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
I thought of when you left
you did not say a word
No hugs and kisses...
no good-bye was heard
You have changed our lives forever
Your time here not in vain
and hope you know we always tired
to keep you safe from pain
You left me peaceful memories;
your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Uncle Joe will always be in my memories as a stern but loving uncle. One of the many things I remember is Uncle Joe telling me "go get that crap off your face". He was there when I needed him. When my brother Michael crashed my mustang, I walked to the speedline every day for work. Uncle Joe found out and made a point to pick me up and drive me to the speedline. Uncle Joe actually trusted me to babysit his precious cargo and never said a word when he clearly knew I let them stay up way past their bed time!! I don't know if he ever knew I would rush them to bed and lick their faces the whole way....if he did he would have shown that stern face but would be laughing inside. He will always be close in my heart.
