David Fretz Ierley

Born August 8, 1941 Died February 24, 2023

David is survived by his loving wife Margaret R. (née Yotka), daughter Nadine M. Ierley, son-in-law Ryan McWilliams, and grandson Ryley A. McWilliams. David was born to Ellen M. (née Fretz) and William H. Ierley in Clifton on August 8, 1941. Having lost his father at the age of 13 to a heart attack, David relied on his wonderful brother Bill to help him navigate his teen years and into adulthood.

After serving in the US Army in the 1960's, David met his future wife Peggy in one of the most unusual places: a roof in Stroudsburg, PA. They were married in January of 1971 and moved to Clifton, NJ.

With the help of his brother and sister-in-law Pat Ierley (née Moy), they took great care of their mother Ellen who was paralyzed by MS.

He began his career at Holt Rinehart and Winston in Clifton, NJ and was eventually relocated to the Bellmawr distribution Center in South Jersey where he became the Data Center Manager. In all, he worked for the same textbook company for 40 years. That was his infamous M.O., steadiness.

In the early 80's David became a father to Nadine. Born in Korea, Nadine made the 17 hour flight to the US with several other adoptees from the Holt Children's Services. November 11, 1983 was the best day of his life.

For 20 years David served as treasurer for Cropwell Friends Meeting in Marlton, NJ. He was greatly influenced by Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Pete Sieger. In his retirement he enjoyed volunteering time at the local animal shelter, working the election polls, and serving on the Laurel Springs Land Use Board.

He loved visiting the West and touring national parks. He loved spending time with his brother and sister-in-law John and Gloria Yotka, nephews and niece Nicholas (Ester) and William. He enjoyed family birthday parties and holidays with his nephew and nieces Bill (AnaMarie) Ierley, Susan (Gregory) Kocher, and Nancy (Mario) Taddeo and their ten children Felisha (Garrett, Layla, Charleigh) Pulley, Jenna Rose Ierley, William H. Ierley, V, Brandon Kocher, Alec Kocher, Jade Kocher, Aidan Kocher, Nicholas Thanjan, Krista Thanjan, and Mario Taddeo, Jr.

Memorial services will be held in early spring. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, send a donation in his name to the charity of your choice or plant a tree. Arrangements under the direction of the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, LINDENWOLD NJ.
