Obituary of Dunia L. Minnium
Dunia Minnium, loving wife, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at Virtua Marlton Hospital. Born Dunia Lizeth Velasquez in La Paz, Honduras on September 19, 1969, she was a graduate of El San Francisco College, and later studied Civil Engineering. She emigrated to Miami in the early 2000s where she met her husband, Richard.
Dunia was a kind and gentle person. She was always willing to help a friend, or stranger, in need. A devout Catholic, Dunia had a tremendous faith and love for the Lord. St. Francis’ teaching, “Preach the gospel at all times. Use words only when necessary.” exemplified how Dunia practiced her faith. She was a dedicated and active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Andrew’s parishes, the Legion of Mary, and the Third Order of St. Francis. She gladly volunteered for whatever effort was needed, whether it was outreach, education, youth ministry, prayer, and/or fellowship, and was always willing to go the “extra mile.” Among her myriad volunteer activities, Dunia’s greatest joy was as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion and companionship to nursing homes and home-bound parishioners. Through her volunteer work, Dunia made many dear friends, who were more like a second family to her.
Prior to finding her calling as a lay minister, Dunia taught at La Esperanza Academy for the Philadelphia School District and worked as an associate for JC Penney.
Dunia is survived by her husband Richard; her siblings, Sara, Patricia, Andrea and Luis Fernando, who reside in Honduras, and many other loving relatives. We are blessed that she shared her beautiful light with us all. She will be missed greatly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, St Lawrence Campus, 135 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will take place privately. In lieu of flowers donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at the above address would be appreciated. Arrangements under the direction of the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, LINDENWOLD NJ.
