Obituary of William Joseph Dougherty

William Joseph Dougherty, 87 years, of Lindenwold NJ, passed away on September 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.   Son of the late William and Frances (née Flood) Dougherty. Beloved husband of Barbara (née Monte) for 67 years. Loving father of Barbara (Charlie) Beirao, Debbie (the late Garry) Kutters and Kelly (Ray) Heppe. Dear brother of Mary Mehler (late George), the late Nancy & Justin Kershaw, the late Frances (Jack) McGrody, Pat (Tom) Brennan, Jimmy (Kathy) Dougherty.  Cherished grandfather of Michele Beirao (Ryan Bortolon), Michael (Amy) Beirao, Gregory Kutters, Samantha (Bob) Schwarz, Willie Heppe and Kevin Heppe and great grandfather of Juliana and Sean Beirao.
 

Bill was a proud US Army veteran and a member of the Gibbsboro American Legion Post 371 and the Lindenwold VFW. Employed at Konrad Beer Distributors, retiring after 17 years.  Community involvement was always important to Bill.  Over the years he served as a councilman for Lindenwold, was a member of the CCMUA, and Governor of Moose Lodge 548.  Dedicated to his faith, Bill served as eucharistic minister for St. Lawrence Church, and was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  A huge sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, football and basketball. Most of all, Bill loved his family and especially cherished the summers they spent together at the Jersey shore.
 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday October 9, 2021 from 9:30AM to 11:00AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. Lawrence Church 135 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold NJ. Mass of Christian burial 11:00AM. Interment with military honors to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin NJ.
