Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Nelson

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth M. “Bitsy” Nelson (née Galm) of Lindenwold, NJ, announce of her passing. Bitsy passed away on April 21, 2021 at the age of 77, at home, surrounded by her children. Bitsy was the loving wife of the late Leo M. Nelson and caring mother of Thomas J. Gardiner Jr. (Debra), Michael D. Gardiner (Gina), Beth Anne Harrington, Catherine Hamilton, Amy G. Milone (Michael) and David C. Gardiner (Susan).  Devoted Granny who enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren Adam and Tessie Hamilton, the late Alice Harrington, Michael Jr. and Lucia Gardiner, Grace E., Max, and Sophia Milone, and Meredith Gardiner.  Bitsy was predeceased by both her parents Henry Galm and Catherine Galm (née Barrett) and siblings Henry Galm, Jasper Galm, and Marian Smith.

For many years Bitsy worked for the Moose Lodge Lindenwold as a bartender/bar manager.  Along with enjoying her time spent with many friends from the Moose, Bitsy loved cruising with Leo and Ali, Michael Jr’s performances (no matter how far the drive), shopping, classic country and Elvis on her jukebox, casino runs and doting on her dog Libby.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 125 N. White Horse Pike Lindenwold NJ 08021. Memorial service 12:00PM at the funeral home. Due to current regulations, face masks must be worn, and attendance will be limited due to COVID 19 guidelines.  In lieu of flowers, please donate in Bitsy’s name to either the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis TN 38105, Samaritan Hospice at PO Box 71425, Philadelphia PA19146 or the Animal Welfare Association at 509 Centennial Boulevard, Voorhees NJ 08043.
