I really regret not standing up and talking at my dads service. I had so much to say, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it out.... David E Gibbs was a genuine loving & carefree soul. He was the laughter of our family. Most of the jokes were aimed at him, but he always took it in stride. "Why u guys gotta bust my balls?" Thanks to my Dad we had many, many more laughs at family gatherings. Laughs that will be greatly missed. That's the kind of man my dad was. He CARED about ppl Genuinely Cared!! He didn't care if we were "busting his balls" he was glad to see us laughing. Family gatherings wont be the same. We need him here, even if it's just to "bust his balls" and get a good laugh. My dad came in my life when I was 5. He had a choice to love me, he didn't have too. David E Gibbs loved me more than any man in this world ever will. He didn't have to be there when I was born, sign my birth certificate, witness my first steps or first birthday....It didn't matter to him. I was HIS daughter. That's the most special kind of love there is. They don't make men like my dad anymore. I am harder on step moms and dads because of my dad. How can this man come in my life at the age of 5 and love me more than some people love their own blood kids???? Because he was David E Gibbs. That's the kinda man he was. And I should have stood up and yelled this at his service. I shoulda said everything I wanted to say. And don't tell me it doesn't matter , or he already knows how I feel..... Because it DOES matter to ME. I want the whole world to know the impact this man had on my life. I want everyone to know how GREAT of a man he was. My hero. My moms hero. My kids hero. Swooped in and saved the world for us. Where would we be without him stepping in? What are we gonna do without him now? Only 68 years young We were supposed to have more time. I never called him back. I said I would. Days kept passing. I never called him. Too busy I guess. The greatest man in my life is gone. We have a service and than That's it. It's over. Life goes on. People forget. My dad deserved more. It can't just simply be over. He wasn't just some man. He wasn't just another guy. He was David E Gibbs. The one who always had my back NO MATTER WHAT My hero. My moms hero. My Dad He deserves more.

Bree and family, I’m so very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I have many fond memories growing up in the Gibbs house and being treated like one of his own. There are no words that can comfort when you lose such a large piece of yourself and heart. I hope, in time, the great memories and love shared will bring you comfort and peace. I can still hear him saying my maiden name that he always called me by and raising his one eye brow making me think I was about to get it. Much love and prayers -Ashley Peterson (Kowasa)

So sorry to hear of David's passing. My prayers and condolences go out to your family. David and I were good friends many years ago. He was a wonderful man who always made me laugh and road trips with David were so much fun. We haven't seen each other in years but we told each other that we'd be friends forever. So peace be with you my friend!
