Obituary of Ret. Lt. Michael Murphy

Retired Lt. of Lindenwold Police Michael Murphy, 78 years, of Lindenwold NJ, passed away on March 1, 2021. Son of the late Howard and Alma (née Nelson) Jones. Husband of Maryann (née Hurlburt) Murphy. Dear brother of Terrence (Marsha) Murphy and brother-in-law of Harry McNally (the late Helen). Loving uncle of David (Judy) McNally, Dawn (Thomas) Gardner and Jackie, great uncle of Kelly (Gregory Jr.) Porter and Douglas Weber (Leslie), great great uncle of Cierra Johnson, Breyah Johnson and Gregory Porter, III and great great great uncle of Armani Kanetos, Riley Dorsey and Kennedy Dorsey. Stepfather of Sofia (Richard) Dorsey.

Michael served the Lindenwold Police department for over 25 years and retired as a Lieutenant. He was a lifetime member of the Lindenwold Fire Company; he was also a member of the Lindenwold Moose Lodge. Served in the NJ National Guard. He was very involved in his community throughout his life including instructing CPR and First Aid training all over the tristate area. Michael was extremely proud of his public safety career and considered the police and fire companies his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Monday evening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the DANKS-HINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 125 N. WHITE HORSE PIKE LINDENWOLD NJ 08021. Memorial service 8:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place privately. Due to the current regulations, face masks must be worn, and attendance will be limited to follow all COVID-19 guidelines. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Samaritan Hospice at PO Box 71425 Philadelphia PA 19146 would be appreciated.
