Steve was, almost to the day, two years older than me, so growing up we shared many things including our birthday parties. One of the most memorable was the one we celebrated at the movie theater on Broad Street in Palmyra where we stood on stage while our friends and everyone at the Saturday matinee sang happy birthday to us. Another good memory was the time that our Dad's company featured our family on a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo in the company magazine (attached are a couple pages from the article). Even though the photos in the article were posed, we still had fun exploring the zoo. Because we were there for the photo shoot, we got to go into areas of the zoo that are usually restricted, so it was exciting. Alison mentioned Steve jumping from the garage roof into the pool, I remember that too, but even more exciting was jumping while holding onto the swing from our two level tree house built in the willow tree in our back yard and swinging high back and forth before letting go of the swing and then climbing up to do it all over again. Other good memories include our many camping trips. One trip included camping half way across the country before camping at a cattle ranch on the Rio Grande before visiting Mexico. We were both impressed when we saw the ranchers herding cattle not on horseback but in Volkswagen Beetles. We also camped along the St. Lawrence River in Canada. Steve and I had fun running around on the campground trials all day and sitting around the campfire until it was time to sleep. The very last camping trip was the one we took as teens with our parents in the old Bond Bread truck that they had remade as a camper. There was even a built in crib for Alison who was a toddler at the time. Looking forward to a fun trip, we both brought friends, but the trip didn't turn out as planned because the engine developed problems and we had to return the next day. Through our teen years we continued to hang out together with our friends sometimes in the damp creepy basement of our house on Garfield Avenue that we had turned into a quasi club. We thought we were cool as we blasted loud music and Steve would play his bass guitar. I'm sure we annoyed the neighbors, but we had fun. These are just a few of the many memories I have of growing up with Steve. Now the years have passed and Steve is gone, but I will always remember the good times we had growing up.

Because Steve was 13 years older than my I have very few childhood memories to reflect on. His empty bedroom where I was allowed to use for sleepovers, his electric guitars which I used when my friends and I were pretending to be The Beatles, and his record collection which I loved playing on his stereo. I do remember him babysitting me while him and his friends had “card night” and him teasing me in our pool. And watching him jump off the garage roof into the pool despite our Moms warnings. He then went away to Germany while in the air force and started a family. When he came back to the states, we had many years enjoying family time together. Those are the best memories I can share - he is gone way to soon and will be missed - but I will always have memories to reflect on.
