Robert Emmett Hopkins, 76 of Stratford, NJ went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2016. Loving and devoted husband of 52 years to Barbara “Bonnie” Hopkins (nee Rodgers). Beloved father of Kelly Taylor (John) and cherished grandfather of Erin, Matthew, Caitlin and Amanda. He was the dear brother of John Hopkins (Priscilla) of Baytown, Texas and Mary Ann Melvin (late Joseph) of North Port, FL. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special cousin Louise Blount (late Charles). Bob attended St. Carthage’s and West Catholic. He also attended New Mexico A & M and St Joseph’s College. Bob worked for Met Life and United Insurance Companies then working for Social Security Disability Dept. Bob enjoyed bowling and darts and had a lifelong passion for golf but what he loved most was playing cards with his Poker club buddies and rummy with his grandchildren. He was a devoted member of St Luke’s Men’s Club, working Bingo for years and using his vacation to work the carnivals. Bob was also member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Council where he found true brotherhood with a wonderful group of kind and selfless people. The Knights included Bob in all activities by focusing on his abilities. Since he was a salesman he sold Dream Vacation tickets after mass in the spring and fall and became known as “The Dream Vacation Man”. The funds are used for the many charities the Knights support. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday from 9:30am to 10:45am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St Luke’s Church, 55 Warwick Road, Stratford, NJ. Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Internment is private. The funeral is under the direction of Danks-Hinski Funeral Home of Lindenwold.
